The experience of Khalel Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University demonstrates that integrating the resources of leading international educational platforms, such as Coursera, Huawei, and Astana Hub, into the academic curriculum helps bridge the gap between traditional higher education and the evolving demands of today's labor market.
The primary advantage of online courses lies in their ability to provide students with direct access to the latest educational programs developed by global industry leaders, including Google and IBM. This has enabled the University to promptly offer internationally recognized professional certificates and micro-credentials in fields such as data analytics, cybersecurity, and UX design, without spending months or even years developing new academic programs. This approach fosters a culture of lifelong learning and significantly enhances graduates' competitiveness in both regional and international labor markets.
At the University, Coursera courses are officially recognized for academic credit (ECTS) and have been successfully integrated into students' individual learning pathways. This approach has made education more personalized: students majoring in Information Technology pursue advanced, practice-oriented learning tracks, while those in the humanities and teacher education programs actively study Business English and Artificial Intelligence courses. In addition, as part of the large-scale AI-Sana initiative, more than 3,300 students are currently enrolled in a modern online course delivered with the participation of leading experts from Stanford University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The program covers Python programming, Google Colab, and Large Language Models (LLMs), while also equipping students with the skills to develop their own Minimum Viable Products (MVPs).
