Kazakhstan–Azerbaijan: Cooperation in Education and Science

An international round table titled “Cooperation Between Higher Education Institutions of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan: A Regional Perspective” was held at Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University. The event was organized to strengthen educational, scientific-economic, and cultural ties between the two countries.

At the opening of the round table, Salamat Idrissov, Chairman of the Scientific and Expert Group of Atyrau Region and Rector of the University, delivered welcoming remarks and emphasized the strategic importance of partnership between the universities of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.

Speaking online, Aminaga Bakhmanogly Sadigov, Rector of Sumgait State University, highlighted the significance of initiatives aimed at expanding cooperation between higher education institutions of the two countries. Lyazzat Zhylkyshiyeva, Head of the Public Accord Municipal State Institution under the Department of Internal Policy of Atyrau Region, also addressed the audience, noting the role of international cooperation at the regional level in strengthening public harmony.

The round table was attended by recipients of the Heydar Aliyev Scholarship, named after the national leader and statesman of Azerbaijan. Notably, since 2012, 70 students of Atyrau University have become recipients of this scholarship.

During the event, speakers delivered substantive presentations covering various areas of bilateral cooperation. Rector Salamat Idrissov presented the prospects for developing scientific and educational partnerships with Azerbaijan. Shafa Tiflisogly Aliyev, Professor at Sumgait State University, Doctor of Economics, and Head of the Karabakh Economic Research Center at UNEC, analyzed contemporary strategic aspects of Azerbaijani–Kazakh economic relations.

In addition, Eldar Akhmedov, Chairman of the Novruz Azerbaijani Ethnocultural Association in Atyrau Region and Honorary Professor of Atyrau University, emphasized the contribution of ethnocultural organizations to the development of cultural cooperation between the two countries.

Yusifali Latifogly Hasanov, Associate Professor and PhD at Sumgait State University, spoke about the importance of Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan cooperation in education and science and highly praised the long-standing tradition of awarding the international Heydar Aliyev Scholarship.

The round table concluded with an open exchange of views, during which participants put forward a number of proposals aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation.
