“National Dictation” - A Reflection of Literacy and National Identity!

At Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University, in cooperation with the Atyrau Regional Akimat and at the initiative of the public association International Society “Kazakh Language”, the nationwide cultural and educational project “National Dictation” was held. The main goal of this large-scale event was to promote the status of the state language, improve the literacy of Kazakhstani citizens, and strengthen national identity and language culture.

During the event, participants were given special instructions, and the dictation consisted of three stages: preparation, writing, and review.

For native speakers, an excerpt was selected from Akhmet Baitursynuly’s article “Oku zhaiy” (About Education) published in the “Kazakh newspaper” in 1913, while for those studying Kazakh as a second language, a short text on the theme “Homeland” was provided.

By participating in the dictation, attendees demonstrated their respect for the Kazakh language, their commitment to literacy, and their sense of civic responsibility.
