ASEEES 2026: PRESENTING RESEARCH ON AN INTERNATIONAL ACADEMIC PLATFORM

The ASEEES 2026 International Conference (Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies), held in Chicago, USA, is one of the world's most prestigious academic forums, bringing together scholars and researchers specializing in the history, politics, economics, and international relations of Central Asia, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia.

Each year, the conference attracts more than 2,800 scholars and researchers from around the world. It provides a platform for academic exchange among representatives of leading universities, including Harvard University, Stanford University, Columbia University, the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley), the University of Michigan, and other prominent higher education institutions.

At this prestigious international academic forum, I presented my research entitled “Amtorg and Soviet-U.S. Trade Relations (1924–1933): Legal and Economic Foundations of Bilateral Cooperation.”

The presentation examined the development of economic cooperation between the United States and the Soviet Union during a period when formal diplomatic relations had not yet been established. Particular attention was given to the strategic role of the Amtorg Corporation in developing trade relations between the two countries, as well as the legal and economic mechanisms governing international trade.

The study also explored how trade relations established between 1924 and 1933 influenced political trust and diplomatic ties between the two nations.

One of the key findings of the research is that economic interests and business connections can lay the foundation for cooperation between states even in the absence of formal diplomatic relations, ultimately contributing to closer political ties.

International conferences of this scale provide valuable opportunities to present research findings to the global academic community, exchange ideas with leading scholars, and establish new research partnerships.

The advancement of science is driven by international academic dialogue and the open exchange of new ideas and research findings. Promoting historical research conducted in Kazakhstan on the international academic stage and strengthening the ties between national scholarship and the global academic community remain important priorities.
