Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University hosted the presentation of two new books dedicated to the scholarly legacy of Academician, Doctor of Historical Sciences and Professor Khismet Bozanuly Tabyldiyev.
The presentation was organized at the initiative of the Kh. B. Tabyldiyev Institute of History, Archaeology and Ethnology. The new publications aim to systematize the scholar’s works and introduce valuable sources related to the history of Kazakhstan, particularly the history of the Atyrau region, into academic circulation.
The first book is a monograph entitled “Khismet Bozanuly Tabyldiyev: The Scholar and Historian”, authored by Doctor of Historical Sciences and Associate Professor L. B. Berdygozhin; D. Zh. Alipova, Head of the Department of History of Kazakhstan and the World, Master’s degree holder and Senior Lecturer; and M. Zh. Zhambylov, Doctor of Historical Sciences and Professor.
The monograph provides an extensive examination of Academician Tabyldiyev as a scholar, educator, organizer and public figure. His contribution to national historical scholarship, local history studies and higher education is analyzed from an academic perspective.
Khismet Bozanuly began working at Guryev Pedagogical Institute in 1963, progressing from lecturer to vice-rector. In 1991, he assumed the leadership of the institution and made a significant contribution to the university’s formation and development. The main areas of his scholarly research included the history of Kazakhstan, the history of the Atyrau region, local history, national liberation movements, and the history of enlightenment.
The monograph was officially presented by Bolat Zhumagulov, Professor at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, and Jamiga Tanatarova, Professor at Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University and Doctor of Historical Sciences.
The second publication, entitled “Atyrau Region During the Great Patriotic War: A Collection of Sources,” was compiled by S. Zh. Sapanov, Director of the Kh. B. Tabyldiyev Institute of History, Archaeology and Ethnology of the Caspian Region, Associate Professor and Candidate of Historical Sciences; S. B. Aimuratov, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences and Associate Professor; A. D. Abdulov, Researcher at the Kh. B. Tabyldiyev Institute of History, Archaeology and Ethnology of the Caspian Region and Master of Humanities; and A. O. Orynbasarov, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Humanities and Arts and Master of Pedagogical Sciences.
The collection of sources was prepared on the basis of documents preserved in the personal archive of Khismet Bozanuly Tabyldiyev. The publication provides an opportunity to study the history of the region during the war years through authentic documentary sources. The introduction of materials from the personal archive into academic circulation contributes to a deeper understanding of the social life and historical circumstances of Atyrau Region during that period.
The book was officially presented by Murat Oteshov, Honorary Citizen of Atyrau Region and Honorary Professor of the University, and Akhan Bekezhan, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences and Professor.
The publication of the two books represents an important step toward collecting, systematizing and preserving the scholarly legacy of Academician Khismet Tabyldiyev for future generations. In particular, the use of historical documents from the scholar’s personal archive as the basis for academic research makes a significant contribution to the source-based study of the history of the region.
