The Office for Staff Retraining and Professional Development of Khalel Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University successfully completed a 72-hour professional development course entitled "Methodology of Psychological and Pedagogical Support for Children with Special Educational Needs in Inclusive Education", held from June 8 to 19, 2026, for the University's academic staff. The training was delivered based on a specialized curriculum developed by the University's experts.
Today, one of the key priorities of the education system is to ensure equal educational opportunities for every learner by creating an inclusive learning environment that takes into account individual needs and abilities. In line with this objective, the course was designed to enhance the professional competencies of faculty members in the field of inclusive education and to equip them with modern approaches to working with students with special educational needs.
Throughout the programme, participants explored the key directions of national policy on inclusive education, as well as national and international legal and regulatory frameworks governing the field. They also examined contemporary models and principles of inclusive education, while discussing strategies for fostering an inclusive culture within educational institutions, creating accessible learning environments, and providing comprehensive support for students with special educational needs.
As part of the psychological and pedagogical module, participants studied effective methods of working with children who have emotional and behavioural challenges. The programme also addressed teaching and learning strategies for students with visual, hearing, and speech impairments, musculoskeletal disabilities, and developmental delays. Particular attention was given to psychological and pedagogical support mechanisms that facilitate students' social inclusion and successful adaptation to the educational process.
The course combined theoretical instruction with practical training through case studies, real-life scenarios, and interactive discussions. Participants completed practical assignments, exchanged professional experiences, and shared best practices. These activities not only strengthened their theoretical knowledge but also enabled them to acquire practical methods and technologies applicable to their everyday teaching practice.
The training sessions were conducted by experienced faculty members of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology. The curriculum was developed in accordance with current educational standards and addressed the most relevant issues in the field of inclusive education.
Upon successful completion of the programme, participants were awarded certificates recognizing their professional development.
The knowledge and practical experience gained during the course will contribute to improving the quality of inclusive education at the University and support the creation of an accessible, supportive, and learner-centred educational environment for students with special educational needs.
