Seminar for Academic Advisors Held at Atyrau University

A seminar titled “The Role of the Advisor During the Course Selection Week” was held at Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University with the participation of faculty advisors and deputy deans.

 

The main objective of the event was to enhance the professional activities of advisors during the academic selection week, clarify their role in shaping students’ educational trajectories, and develop a common understanding of arising issues.

 

During the seminar, Head of the Registrar’s Office E.I. Kukkuzova emphasized the importance of the advisor’s role and provided a detailed explanation of their key responsibilities in forming students’ individual educational pathways. She also presented important information on the types of issues students typically address with advisors and mechanisms for providing academic support.

 

Vice-Rector Zh.U. Suleimenova, in turn, elaborated on curricula of educational programs, the catalog of elective courses, and the opportunities for using the Coursera platform. She also explained possible challenges during the selection week, ways to resolve them promptly, and the responsibilities of relevant departments.

 

It should be noted that the 2026 course selection week is scheduled from April 6 to April 18, in accordance with the academic calendar.

 

During the seminar, participants received comprehensive answers to their questions and discussed practical issues. Deputy deans were also provided with relevant information on working with transfer students and those repeating courses.

 

This seminar served as an important platform for enhancing advisors’ professional competencies and improving the system of academic support for students.
