Happy Spring Holiday – the Great Day of Nauryz!
Nauryz is one of the oldest celebrations in the world and has become a part of the cultural traditions of many nations. In Central Asia, it has been celebrated for over five thousand years. The word Nauryzoriginates from Persian and means “new day.”
Today, Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University marked the national holiday by setting up a traditional six-winged yurt at the central Isatay-Makhambet Square.
The festive event was organized by the Faculty of Multilingual Education. The program featured traditional Kazakh rituals such as bata beru (blessing), tusau kesu (ceremonial cutting of a child’s fetters), and competitions in national sports held around the yurt. Guests were also treated to a cultural performance.
In addition, the teaching staff from all departments of the faculty joined efforts to prepare Nauryz kozhe, a traditional festive dish made from seven grains. The dish was offered to everyone who visited the university’s yurt.
On this great holiday that symbolizes renewal, unity, and the beginning of a new year, the staff of Atyrau University extends heartfelt wishes of good health, family well-being, and joyful spring spirit to all!
