Challenges and Prospects of Forage Production in the Arid Conditions of Atyrau Region Discussed at Roundtable
A roundtable titled “Challenges and Prospects of Forage Production in the Arid Conditions of Atyrau Region” was held at Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University in honor of the 80th anniversary of Bolat Mukhambetov, a distinguished agricultural scientist who has made significant contributions to the development of science in Kazakhstan.
The event, organized to address issues related to sustainable land management and the improvement of forage production in Kazakhstan’s livestock farming sector, brought together scientists, leading agricultural specialists, entrepreneurs, and representatives of governmental organizations.
Dr. Bolat Mukhambetov, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, has authored more than 250 scientific articles and holds patents for two new melilot varieties. His contributions have earned recognition both nationally and internationally.
In his welcoming speech, the Rector of the University, Salamat Idrisov, stated:
“You are a wise scholar who began your career at an early age and brought valuable experience into the world of science. Your tireless work has significantly contributed to the development of livestock farming in the western regions of Kazakhstan. Your fruitful research and economic insights have greatly advanced the sector. The scientific works you have authored are making a profound impact on the development of domestic science. On behalf of the university, I congratulate you on your jubilee and wish you and your family good health and well-being.”
During the roundtable, several respected scholars delivered presentations on relevant topics and congratulated Dr. Mukhambetov on his milestone:
• Dr. Askhat Imangaliyev, Professor and Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences;
• Dr. Galiolla Meirmanov, Academician and Doctor of Biological Sciences;
• Yedige Saburov, Scientific Director of “ Atyrauhydrogeology” LLP;
• Yerik Shorabayev, Director of “Industrial Microbiology” and Candidate of Biological Sciences;
• Yesim Kenesov, Doctoral Student at K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional University;
• Akkali Akhmet, Researcher at the Caspian Research Institute of History, Archaeology and Ethnology named after H.B. Tabildiyev;
• Arman Zhumagaziyev, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Atyrau University.
Academician Galiolla Meirmanov spoke about the honoree’s professional legacy:
“We can rightfully say that Dr. Bolat Mukhambetov is a worthy successor of the great figures who shaped agricultural science. He is a devoted scholar. In recent years, he has conducted extensive research on the soil conditions of the Atyrau region with the aim of developing local agriculture. He has achieved significant results in forage production, registering several new varieties of melilot. Recently, he also received a patent for a new method of cultivating saxaul and continues to actively engage in scientific research.”
In recognition of his contributions to science and education, Dr. Bolat Mukhambetov was awarded the Kh. Dosmukhamedov Medal and the Mentor Medal of the Council of Veterans.
In the concluding part of the event, Dr. Mukhambetov shared insights into his scientific achievements and emphasized the importance of integrating science with practical experience to improve forage production in Kazakhstan.
The roundtable concluded with warm wishes from the participants and commemorative photos with the honoree.
