Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University signed a number of memorandums

At the latest off-site meeting of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, held in Atyrau, Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University signed a memorandum of cooperation.

The purpose of the memorandum is to facilitate the effective development and enhance the efficiency of joint scientific research contributing to the region’s economic growth. Additionally, the university has also signed memorandums with well-known scientific research institutes in the country, such as the Kazakh Research Institute of Agriculture and Crop Production and the Kazakh Research Institute of Livestock and Feed Production.

Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University is implementing concrete measures to fulfill the instruction of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, K. Tokayev, who emphasized the need to develop science and innovation at the regional level and tasked local executive bodies with establishing Regional Councils on Science and Technology.

This was stated by the Vice-Rector for Science of Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University, Kansulu Otepkaliyeva, in her report at the latest meeting of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of Kazakhstan, held under the theme “Powerful Regional Science – Powerful Region.”

The Vice-Rector noted that Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University is currently implementing 12 scientific projects within the framework of grant funding for scientific and (or) scientific-technical projects by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan. In addition, four projects are being carried out under program-targeted funding, and in 2024, 11 intra-university projects were implemented at the university’s request. As part of the meeting, an exhibition of these projects was organized.

At the meeting, proposals for creating a scientific cluster in the region to address local issues were presented on the initiative of Atyrau University.

“As part of this initiative, it is proposed to implement regional infrastructure projects, attract investments from the local budget to finance scientific research, strengthen cooperation between the university and industry, create innovation platforms and hubs, introduce efficiency assessment and monitoring systems, and hold annual scientific project competitions in priority areas of regional development with the involvement of the local scientific community or a scientific cluster,” noted Vice-Rector for Science K. Otepkaliyeva.

The memorandum was signed at the N. Balgymbaev Communication Development Center as part of the latest off-site meeting of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of Kazakhstan, themed “Powerful Regional Science – Powerful Region.” The event was attended by the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, Akylbek Kurishbayev, the Akim of Atyrau Region, Serik Shapkenov, scientists from regional universities, and representatives of major industrial companies.
