A Science Support Fund and a Regional Council will be established in Atyrau

The Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan held another off-site meeting in Atyrau on the development of regional science and innovation.
Scientists from Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University participated in the meeting, and Vice-Rector for Science, Kansulu Otepkalieva, delivered a report.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the support of scientific projects and research scientists by local authorities.
“Unfortunately, this issue still does not receive adequate attention, which negatively affects the pace of economic development. That is why it is not surprising that the Head of State emphasizes the need to develop science and innovation at the regional level, instructing local executive bodies to establish Regional Councils on Science and Technology and to implement concrete measures to address this issue. However, we are convinced that the implementation of this task at the local level is not at the proper standard,” said Akylbek Kurishbayev, President of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The off-site meeting was attended by members of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, academicians and staff, the Akim of Atyrau Region, heads of regional government departments, heads of regional universities and scientific organizations, as well as representatives of industrial and service companies and other organizations.
