Biography

Elmira Makhmetovna Makhmetova is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Fine Arts and Design of H. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University. She is a member of the Eurasian Designers Union and the Union of Ethno-Designers of Kazakhstan. She was born on August 2, 1984. From 2001 to 2006, she studied at H. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau State University, Faculty of Pedagogy, Psychology and Arts, majoring in Interior Design. She began her professional career in 2005 in the field of design. Over the years, she worked as a designer at the “ADAM” advertising agency, as an advertising and interior designer at the “JARDINI” design studio, as an advertising and furniture designer at the “DIAR” company, as an advertising designer at the “Etalon” agency, and as chief designer at the “SATIN” sewing workshop. Through this work, she gained substantial practical experience in advertising, interior, furniture, and textile design. Since 2022, she has been working as a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Fine Arts and Design of H. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University. In her academic work, she focuses on design, art education, ethno-design, and creative project development. She continuously develops her professional skills. In 2023, under the international Orhun program, she completed a research internship at Bursa Uludag University in Türkiye. She also took part in training and seminars at Akdeniz University on textile design and the analysis and construction of basic models. In addition, she completed courses in inclusive education in Serbia, contemporary issues in art education and design, academic writing, pedagogical models in Finland, and professional quality enhancement. Within the “Saraishyk – Heritage of the Ancestors” project, she participated in sculpture and painting workshops. In her research and project work, she gives particular attention to ethno-design and the preservation of traditional crafts. She is involved in the project “Reconstruction of the Handicraft Objects of the Medieval City of Saraishyk on the Basis of Modern Ethno-Design.” In addition, within the framework of the “Silver University” program, she delivered a practice-oriented course in 2024 entitled “Ways of Learning Sewing Skills.” Her professional and creative activities have been recognized with several awards. In 2016, she received a letter of appreciation for participating in the exhibition “Fundamentals and Materials of Advertising” in Moscow, and in 2023, she was acknowledged for her participation in the “Museum Night” cultural event. In 2024, she received a letter of appreciation for her contribution to the “Saraishyk – Heritage of the Ancestors” project, as well as a certificate of honor from the trade union of education and science workers of Atyrau region for her contribution to the development of education.
