Biography
Urazbay Tulegenovich Karabalin is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Fine Arts and Design of H. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University, Master of Arts, and a member of the Eurasian Designers Union. He was born on October 2, 1974.
From 1994 to 1998, he studied at H. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau State University, majoring in Fine Arts and Technical Drawing, and qualified as a teacher of fine arts and drawing. From 2017 to 2019, he completed his Master’s degree in Design at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University and obtained a Master of Arts degree.
He began his professional career in 1998 as a lecturer at the Department of Fine Arts and Technical Drawing. Since 2005, he has been working at the Department of Fine Arts and Design, progressing from Senior Lecturer to his current position as Senior Lecturer.
His academic and research activities focus on art education, design, national furniture art, spatial design organization, the development of compositional thinking, and fostering students’ creative abilities. He supervises student research projects and provides methodological support to school teachers.
He continuously improves his professional qualifications by participating in training programs at leading institutions in Kazakhstan and abroad, including the “Orleu” National Center, T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts, Akdeniz University (Türkiye), and HAMK University of Applied Sciences (Finland). His training covers academic drawing, painting, graphic design, digital tools, textile design, pedagogy, and academic writing. He also participated in sculpture and painting workshops within the “Saraishyk – Heritage of the Ancestors” project.
His research works have been published in national and international journals. His studies address spatial organization in design, national furniture composition, art education pedagogy, ethno-design, and the role of digital technologies in education. His publications include contributions to international conference proceedings and Scopus-indexed journals such as World Journal on Educational Technology.
He actively participates in international symposia, exhibitions, and academic collaborations in Kazakhstan and abroad, including Türkiye and Mongolia. He has also been involved in international academic cooperation initiatives, including collaboration with Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University.
For his professional and creative achievements, he has received several awards, including a First Degree Diploma in a UNESCO-related competition dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Makhambet Utemisov, the Eurasian Designers Union medal “For Achievements in Design” (2020), a Letter of Appreciation from the Nur Otan party (2021), and recognition for his contribution to the “Saraishyk – Heritage of the Ancestors” project (2024).
