Serik Utepkaliyev – born on November 29, 1952, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Mathematics and Methods of Teaching Mathematics. E-mail: Serik.Utepkaliyev@mail.ru Education and Academic Degree 1970–1974 – Graduated with honors from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the Guryev Pedagogical Institute, receiving the qualification of a mathematics teacher and the Lenin Scholarship distinction. 1986–1990 – Studied at the postgraduate program of the Herzen State Pedagogical University in Leningrad, where he was engaged in scientific research. 1998 – Defended his кандидаттық dissertation at the Academic Council of the Russian Academy of Education on the topic: “Methods of Teaching High School Students to Independently Formulate Meaningful Mathematical Problems,” and was awarded the degree of Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences. Professional Career Since 1977, he has been working at Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau State University. At the university he has held the positions of lecturer, senior lecturer, associate professor, and professor at the Department of Algebra and Geometry. 1993–1996 – Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics. 1998–2000 – Deputy Dean of the Correspondence (Distance Learning) Faculty. He also served as the Executive Secretary of the Admission Committee and for several years worked as the Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics. Since 2016, he has been serving as Professor of the Department of Mathematics and Methods of Teaching Mathematics at Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau State University. He is also a Professor of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences and an Honorary Doctor of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. Research Interests Mastering modern teaching technologies and implementing them in educational practice. Participation in International Conferences, Symposia, and Seminars The book “Mathematics” (for preparatory course students in Kazakh, Russian, and English) was included in the special catalog of the BOOKEXPO AMERICA 2019 international exhibition and was awarded a certificate and the BOOKEXPO AMERICA Gold Medal. In 2021–2022, his monograph “Methodology for Teaching Independent Solution of Word Problems in Mathematics” and the book “Guide to Solving Mathematical Olympiad Problems” were presented at the 35th International Moscow Book Fair, organized with the support of the Russian Federation.
