Biodiversity Issues Discussed at Atyrau University

A round table on “Biodiversity Conservation: The Role of Birds in the Ecosystem” was held at Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University, organized by the Department of Biology and Fisheries of the Faculty of Natural Sciences.

 

The event aimed to highlight the importance of birds in nature, discuss biodiversity conservation issues, and increase environmental awareness among young people.

 

Senior lecturers Maden Sanshe Smetkyzy and Magiya Izgaliyevna Berzhanova presented on environmental education related to birds. Ornithologist Ilya Vladimirovich Bofonov from the “Akzhaiyk” State Nature Reserve shared insights into the region’s biodiversity.

 

Third-year student Arsen Kazaliyev spoke about protected natural areas and endangered bird species in the Atyrau region. Students Anar Kalkamankyzy and Gulsim Utemuratova presented research on birdwatching as both a hobby and a scientific field.

 

Faculty members, specialists, and students participated in the event, exchanging knowledge and experience. A thematic video about birds was also presented.

 

The meeting included active discussions on environmental issues and current challenges.
