This prestigious state distinction is a well-deserved recognition of Valery Fyodorovich’s significant contribution to the development of national literature, his creative endeavours, and his dedicated service to the cultural life of the country.
Throughout his nearly five-decade literary career, Valery Mikhailov has explored the history and destiny of Kazakhstan, as well as the complex periods experienced by its people, presenting readers with valuable literary and documentary works. His writings are distinguished by their profound connection between historical truth, civic responsibility and human destiny.
His works, including The Chronicle of the Great Dzhut and The Poplar Branch, or Returning Home, have made a distinctive contribution to understanding difficult periods in the history of the Kazakh people, preserving the memory of the past and renewing historical consciousness. His research and essays on prominent figures of Kazakh literature and his contemporaries, as well as his many years of work in journalism, have also earned high recognition in Kazakhstan’s literary and cultural community.
