On June 25, 2026, Safi Utebayev Atyrau University of Oil and Gas hosted an industry hackathon dedicated to identifying priority areas for the development of the petrochemical industry in the Atyrau Region.
The hackathon aimed to develop proposals for the further advancement of the region’s petrochemical sector through innovative technological, scientific, and managerial solutions.
Alongside teams representing major industry companies, including the Atyrau Oil Refinery (ANPZ), NCOC, KPI, SELENA, and others, Khalel Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University was represented by the following team:
- Anar Yersayinovna Tlepbergenova – Head of the Department of Ecology, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor;
- Samal Salamatovna Shamshedenova – PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Ecology;
- Zhanibek Orynbekovich Tauanov – Second-year master's student in the 7M05201 Applied Ecology educational program;
- Elmira Serikovna Bisekova – Second-year master's student in the 7M05201 Applied Ecology educational program;
- Amina Murzagalievna Sariyeva – Second-year master's student in the 7M05201 Applied Ecology educational program.
The university team successfully defended its project developed under Technical Assignment No. 5 – "Establishment of a Regional Competence Center for the Petrochemical Industry." The project's primary objective was to design a model for an industry competence center that would support the sustainable development of the petrochemical sector in the Atyrau Region. The team demonstrated a high level of professional expertise, creativity, and the ability to develop effective solutions to complex industry challenges.
Based on the results of the hackathon, the team was awarded Certificates of Participation and valuable prizes in recognition of their outstanding performance.
