The Military Department of Atyrau University named after Khalel Dosmukhamedov is one of the key institutions contributing to the patriotic education of young people and strengthening the defense capability of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In addition to providing high-quality military education, the department aims to develop responsible and highly qualified professionals.
The Military Department was established in accordance with Resolution No. 344 of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated June 10, 2016.
Colonel Kuandyk Amangeldiyevich Berdigaliyev was appointed as the first Head of the Department. Subsequently, this position was held by Reserve Lieutenant Colonel of Justice Serik Akirovich Absamatov. Currently, the Military Department is headed by Reserve Colonel Ruslan Zhalgasuly Nauryzbekov.
At the Military Department, students receive training under the reserve officer and reserve sergeant programs. The educational process is aimed at forming the military reserve of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as providing qualified personnel for entry-level officer and sergeant positions.
Today, the department offers training in several military specialties. These include the employment of combined-arms units in combat operations, organization of military service, maintenance of security and law enforcement, planning and organization of territorial defense, and infantry training.
In addition to students of Atyrau University named after Khalel Dosmukhamedov, students of Atyrau Oil and Gas University named after Safi Utebayev also study under these programs. Each year, more than 200 graduates complete their training at the Military Department, making a valuable contribution to the country's military reserve.
