Visit Aimed at Strengthening Cooperation and Partnership Relations

On June 2-3, 2026, a delegation from Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University participated in the regular working meeting of the Association of Universities and Research Centers of the Caspian Region, held at Astrakhan State Technical University in Astrakhan, Russian Federation.

This year, Atyrau University serves as the Chair of the Association. In this regard, University Rector Salamat Idrissov presented proposals in line with the document “Key Strategic Directions of the Association’s Activities for 2025-2030.” As an active member of the Association, the university proposed initiatives aimed at strengthening academic cooperation among Caspian countries, preserving the ecosystem of the Caspian Sea, and deepening scientific collaboration.

Among the proposals presented were:

* Launching the “Caspian Campus” project to promote joint research and innovation while providing students and faculty members with opportunities for short- and long-term exchange programs.

* Establishing scholarships named after the Association’s founders to support young researchers studying issues related to the Caspian region and to foster human capital development.

* Creating a Caspian Research Consortium that would unite scientists working on projects related to ecology, bioresources, maritime economy, energy, transportation, and climate change.

* Developing a Digital Platform of the Association that would integrate databases of scientific publications, dissertations, laboratory results, and joint projects.

* Launching the “Caspian - Territory of Cultural Dialogue” project and establishing a Center for Intercultural Communications to promote research on the history, traditions, and languages of the peoples of the region.

The participants also discussed the Association’s role as a platform for scientific diplomacy and international cooperation, as well as opportunities to engage more actively in international programs such as Erasmus+, Horizon Europe, Green Central Asia, and other global initiatives.

During the visit, the university delegation met with colleagues from Astrakhan and became acquainted with the activities of the Kazakh Language Center at Astrakhan State Technical University.

At the extended meeting of the Academic Council dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of Astrakhan State Technical University obtaining university status, Salamat Nurmukhanuly Idrissov, Chairman of the Board and Rector of Khalel Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University, was awarded the title of Honorary Professor of Astrakhan State Technical University in recognition of his contribution to the long-standing partnership and cooperation between the two universities.
