A ceremonial event dedicated to awarding the international scholarship named after the prominent Azerbaijani statesman and national leader Heydar Aliyev was held at Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University.
The event was attended by the Consul General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Aktau, Aykhan Suleymanli, his spouse Sevinj Suleymanli, Consul Mubariz Jafarov, as well as the university’s administration, faculty members, and students.
This scholarship has been awarded at the university since 2012. Each year, on the eve of Heydar Aliyev’s birthday, the named scholarship is presented with the participation of the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Aktau. Over the past 14 years, this initiative has become a strong and meaningful tradition, with 66 university students having received this prestigious scholarship.
Opening the ceremony, Chairman of the Board - Rector Salamat Idrissov emphasized the importance of the scholarship in supporting achievements in education and science:
“The name of Heydar Aliyev is associated not only with the history of Azerbaijan, but also with strengthening unity and cooperation across the Turkic world. Receiving an international scholarship named after such a great figure is both an honor and a responsibility,” the rector noted.
The Consul General of Azerbaijan in Aktau, Aykhan Suleymanli, highlighted the importance of friendship and partnership between the two countries and wished the students success. In addition, Eldar Akhmedov, Chairman of the Azerbaijani Ethnocultural Association “Novruz,” delivered a congratulatory speech.
This year, the scholarship was awarded to the following students:
* Beibarys Tolegen - Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technology
* Arseniy Kuleshov - Faculty of Humanities and Arts
* Dilnaz Dosmukhambetova - Faculty of Natural Sciences
* Nurbayan Muratova - Faculty of Innovative Education
* Saniya Taiyrova - Faculty of Economics and Law
On behalf of the scholarship recipients, Nurbayan Muratova expressed gratitude for the trust placed in them and noted their commitment to continued success in education and research.
During the event, the rector presented the 85th anniversary commemorative medal of Atyrau University to Consul General Aykhan Suleymanli and Consul Mubariz Jafarov in recognition of their contribution to bilateral cooperation.
At the end of the ceremony, the organizers expressed their appreciation to the guests, and participants took commemorative photos.
