A roundtable discussion titled “The Role of Artificial Intelligence and New Media in Mass Media” was held at Khalel Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University.
The main objective of the event was to comprehensively analyze the impact of AI technologies and new media on the media industry, explain digital transformation processes in journalism, and develop students’ professional competencies.
Participants discussed key issues such as media literacy, fact-checking, digital ethics, innovative content creation, and deepfake technologies.
During the event, students and faculty delivered presentations on the impact of AI on journalism.
First-year student Zhanylsyn Serikova presented a video titled “How Artificial Intelligence is Changing Journalism.”
Third-year student Anara Batyrova addressed professional responsibility in her report “Ethics of Journalism in the Age of AI.”
Additionally, Galiya Arenova analyzed the impact of AI and deepfake technologies on the future of journalism, while Nurzhanar Temirbolat discussed how AI optimizes journalists’ daily work. Student Nazhimadin Attagullayev from Karakalpakstan spoke about the relationship between youth and science today and in the future.
The discussion also covered the topic “Journalist vs Blogger: Who Matters More Today?”, examining roles in the modern media landscape. Senior lecturers Lazzat Mazhitova and Gulzhan Nursultanova elaborated on AI applications in media and the importance of media literacy.
At the end of the roundtable, participants shared their opinions and recommendations.
