A scientific and methodological seminar titled “Contemporary Educational Reforms: Global Trends and the National Context through the Lens of Michael Fullan’s Change Theory” was held at Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University, organized by the Department of Mathematics and Methods of Teaching Mathematics.
The seminar brought together faculty members, master’s students, and education professionals to discuss the theoretical and methodological foundations of modern educational reforms.
During the event, first-year master’s students of the educational program “Mathematics: Educational Process Management” delivered presentations and shared their research. In particular, Suikimdi Kuanyshova analyzed the theoretical and methodological foundations of educational reforms and key values in global practice. Zhannur Karimova focused on successful and unsuccessful reform models in international experience.
Zhibek Mugau examined the role of teachers in educational reforms based on Michael Fullan’s theory and emphasized the importance of professional development. Adilbek Salkynbek analyzed changes in Kazakhstan’s education system within the national context.
Participants also exchanged views on the key question: “Why do some reforms fail?” and discussed scientific foundations and methodological approaches for the effective implementation of educational reforms.
At the conclusion of the seminar, the content and essence of educational reforms were comprehensively reviewed, and the relationship between global experience and national characteristics was highlighted. Participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas and shape their academic perspectives.
