Youth and Science: The Present and the Future
The Decade of Science has officially begun at Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University. The opening event of the Science Week was the international scientific-practical conference “Youth and Science: The Present and the Future.”
The conference, organized on the eve of April 12 - the Day of Science Workers - brought together young researchers not only from Kazakhstan but also from the USA, France, Russia, Belarus, and Ireland.
In his opening address at the plenary session, the Rector of the University, Salamat Idrissov, stated:
“This conference serves as an important platform that allows young researchers to explore cutting-edge scientific studies and exchange innovative ideas. Today, young scientists at our university are actively involved in various startup projects and demonstrate excellent results in university-wide and national scientific competitions. Their fresh, original ideas receive funding and are successfully implemented. This is clear evidence that the support for science at our university continues to grow year after year.”
As part of the event, students who became winners of the Student Research Competition among Higher Education Institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan were honored. They received monetary prizes and diplomas, while their academic advisors were awarded certificates of appreciation. Among the winners and finalists were students in the fields of Applied Mathematics, Physics, Standardization, Biology, Pedagogy and Psychology, and Linguistics.
During the plenary session, several international researchers presented their scientific projects, including:
• Dr. Saltanat Tleuberdiyeva (PhD), researcher at the University of Illinois (USA);
• Dr. Ainur Kenzhetayeva (PhD) from Bluefield State University;
• Postdoctoral researcher Kuanysh Zhusupbekov from Trinity College Dublin (Ireland);
• Master’s student Saltanat Kiyasheva from the University of Poitiers (France).
Other notable speakers included:
• Associate Professor Mergen Boskhomzhiyeva and Associate Professor Ramile Bashirzade from Russia;
• Alexander Sokolov, a Master of Economics from Belarus;
• Dr. Meiramgul Mukhambetova (PhD), member of the Council of Young Scientists of Atyrau University;
• Aikun Mukhit, a third-year student of Atyrau University.
In her presentation on student research at the University of Illinois, Dr. Saltanat Tleuberdiyeva highlighted:
“The Fiddler Innovation Fellowship is awarded to undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for presenting interdisciplinary and innovative solutions that combine creativity, art or design, and technology to address cultural, societal, or global challenges. The Illinois Innovation Prize is granted by the Grainger College of Engineering through the Technology Entrepreneurship Center. Since 2007, a total of $450,000 has been awarded to student innovators through this initiative.”
The conference covered a broad range of topics, including IT, cloud technologies, entrepreneurship, academic mobility, economic security, and material studies for modern technologies.
At the conclusion of the conference, the organizers expressed their gratitude to all participants and their confidence in the continued development of scientific cooperation. The work of the conference will continue with the following breakout sessions:

2. Current Issues in Physical and Mathematical Sciences and ICT;
3. Youth in the Development of Modern Humanities and the Arts;
4. Skilled Trades – Drivers of Economic Growth and Development;

6. The Future of Modern Education: Tasks and Strategies;
7. Natural Sciences: A Scientific Approach and Future Orientation.
