Support for Science: On the instructions of the Head of State, young scientists received new apartments
Today, February 26, in Almaty, in the building of "Gylym Ordasy", the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek and the President of the National Academy of Sciences Akhylbek Kurishbayev, on behalf of the Head of State, in order to support scientists, improve their social status and stimulate the influx of young personnel into science, solemnly presented certificates for apartments to 9 young scientists.
Since May 2024, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan has been working to form a list of young scientists (up to 40 years old inclusive) in need of housing. About 300 applications were received from scientific organizations and universities subordinate to state bodies located in the city of Almaty.
In pursuance of the President's instruction, the commission for the distribution of apartments for young scientists of scientific organizations, higher and postgraduate education organizations for the provision of housing in the city of Almaty has determined the next list of young scientists in need of housing.
The young scientists thanked for the support provided. They also added that now they can devote more time to scientific work without being distracted by housing issues.
"This is an incentive for us, as young scientists, and for our development. I am very grateful for the launch of this program, which provides support to young people in science. I am sure that this is an important step towards advancing science," said Balzhan Naimanova, a researcher at the Kazakh Research Institute for Plant Protection and Quarantine named after Zh. Zhiembayev.
The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan will carry out this work in stages. An increase in the number of young scientists will have a positive impact on the development of science, the commercialization of the results of scientific and scientific-technical activities, as well as the creation of new economic clusters.
It should be noted that before this, on the instructions of the Head of State, 42 young scientists received housing certificates. In addition, on October 19, 2023, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Otbasy Bank JSC signed a cooperation agreement on the program of preferential lending to young scientists for 2023-2027. Currently, 290 young scientists have received preferential housing under this program.
