A meeting was held with UNDP representatives on the development of the project document

A meeting with representatives of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on the development of a project document within the framework of the initiative "Integrated Management of Marine and Coastal Resources of the Kazakhstan Part of the Caspian Sea and Adjacent Territories" was held at the Atyrau University named after Kh. Dosmukhamedov. 

The main goal of the delegation's visit was to hold negotiations with potential partners and implementers of the project aimed at introducing an integrated ecosystem approach to preserving the main species and ecosystems of the Caspian Sea, as well as creating conditions for sustainable economic development of the region. The project is being implemented by UNDP jointly with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Fisheries Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The meeting was attended by professorial teaching staff and Bulat Yesekin, Leading Specialist in Coordination of the GPZU Activities, Outreach and Stakeholder Engagement, Arman Utepov, Water Resources Management Specialist, Maira Zhunisova, Social and Environmental Specialist, Saida Nigmatova, Biodiversity and Protected Areas Specialist, Bakhtiyar Sadyk, Sustainable Livestock and Pasture Specialist, Sholpan Abdireeva, Nature Tourism and Sustainable Livelihoods Expert, Maigul Nugmanova, Gender and Safeguards Specialist, Alua Baizhomartova, UNDP Programme Analyst, and Aray Belgubayeva, UNDP Project Analyst. The experts presented the project and shared information on the work being carried out.

At the event, participants asked questions to the delegation members within the framework of the initiative and presented environmental projects being implemented on the basis of Atyrau University named after Kh. Dosmukhamedov.

At the end of the event, an open discussion took place on environmental issues, fisheries, and tourism in the Atyrau region.
