Requirements and Procedures for International Applicants

Does the university provide temporary registration? Within 3 working days after arriving in the Republic of Kazakhstan, it is mandatory to contact the International Office of the university, specifically the specialist responsible for migration issues. This requirement is established for the migration registration of international students and the timely processing of documents. Failure to report on time carries the risk of violating registration deadlines.
How can a foreign citizen obtain citizenship of Kazakhstan? Citizenship is granted in strict accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan on population migration.
How are the rights of foreign citizens protected in Kazakhstan? Foreign citizens in Kazakhstan enjoy all the rights and freedoms, and also bear all the responsibilities established by the Constitution, national laws, and international treaties of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

How to Apply▼

Foreign applicants can apply for admission to Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University in one of the following ways:

1. Through the Study in Kazakhstan platform
Applications can be submitted online through the official Study in Kazakhstan platform: studyinkz.kz

2. Directly to the University
International applicants may also submit their documents directly to the University. At the initial stage, scanned copies of the required documents may be submitted. Upon arrival in Atyrau, applicants must provide the original documents for verification.

No entrance examinations are required for international applicants. Admission is based on an interview with the Admissions Committee.

Required documents:

a document confirming general secondary, technical and vocational, or higher education (original and notarized copy of the certificate, diploma, or other educational qualification);
certificate of nostrification, if available, or confirmation that the documents have been submitted for nostrification through a Public Service Center;
notarized copy of the passport;
4 passport-size photographs (3×4 cm);
medical certificate (Form 075-U) and chest X-ray/fluorography results;
copy of the certificate confirming the assignment of an Individual Identification Number (IIN).

Student Visa (C9)▼

International students who require a visa to enter the Republic of Kazakhstan must obtain a C9 student visa for study purposes.

Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University acts as the inviting party and assists admitted international students in obtaining the official invitation (visa support) required to apply for a C9 student visa.

Documents required for the invitation

Students should provide the University with:

a clear scanned copy of a valid international passport;
a completed application form;
a document confirming admission to the University;
proof of tuition fee payment, if required;
any additional documents requested by the University for visa support purposes.

Once the invitation has been approved by the relevant authorities, the University will provide the student with the registration number and date of the invitation. This information is required when applying for a student visa.

Applying for a C9 visa

After receiving the invitation details, the student should apply to the Embassy or Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in their country of residence.

The following documents are generally required:

a valid international passport;
a completed and signed visa application form;
a 3.5 × 4.5 cm photograph;
the registration number and date of the official invitation;
a document confirming admission to the University;
proof of payment of the consular fee;
for applicants under the age of 18, notarized consent from a parent or legal guardian, accompanied by a Kazakh or Russian translation.

The passport must have at least two blank pages and remain valid for at least three months beyond the expiration date of the requested visa.

Important: Students who are citizens of countries with a visa-free entry regime with Kazakhstan may not be required to obtain a C9 visa. Such students are subject to the applicable migration procedures, including obtaining a Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) where required.

Temporary Residence Permit (TRP)▼

International students who enter the Republic of Kazakhstan under a visa-free regime and study at the University may be required to obtain a Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) for study purposes.

For full-time international students, the TRP is issued on the basis of an official application submitted by the University.

Important: Notification of Arrival

After entering the Republic of Kazakhstan, international students must inform the University of their arrival as soon as possible, providing their date of entry and place of residence.

This information is required so that the University, as the host institution, can submit a notification of the foreign citizen’s arrival to the migration authorities. The notification must be submitted within 3 working days from the date of arrival in Kazakhstan.

Students must provide:

date of entry into Kazakhstan;
copy of passport;
actual residential address in Kazakhstan;
other information required for migration procedures.

Students are strongly advised to inform the University’s Migration Coordinators of their expected arrival date in Atyrau in advance.

Important: Students must also notify the University each time they re-enter Kazakhstan and whenever they change their place of residence, so that the University can complete the required migration procedures within the established timeframe.

Documents Required for a TRP

The following documents are required:

valid national passport;
notarized consent of the property owner for accommodation, or a document confirming accommodation in a University dormitory;
certificate confirming enrollment at the University;
completed application form;
IIN (Individual Identification Number);
document confirming fingerprint registration;
confirmation of arrival notification/registration through eQonaq;
medical insurance valid for 1 year.*

*For citizens of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states, medical insurance is not included in the mandatory list of documents required for a TRP.

Documents issued in a foreign language must be translated into Kazakh or Russian, and the translation must be notarized.
