Education, academic degree and title:

In 1973, he graduated from the Faculty of Biology at Baku State University with a degree in Biology. In 1979, he defended his dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Biological Sciences in the specialty "03.00.07-Microbiology" at the Institute of Biochemistry and Physiology of Microorganisms of the USSR Academy of Sciences. In 1987, he received the academic title of Senior Researcher in Microbiology. In 1990, he defended his dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Biological Sciences at Moscow State University. In 1995, he received the academic title of Professor in Microbiology. 

Research interests: Biochemistry and physiology of microorganisms, microbiology, biotechnology, bioconversion of plant waste, fungal hydrolytic enzymes, microbial synthesis of nanoparticles, production of probiotics, and the search for new antimicrobial agents.
