«Biotechnology» Centre Main Functions
•Organise and conduct scientific research in the field of biological sciences;
•Conduct fundamental and applied research on the main priorities of science and technology;
•Participate in international, national, sectoral, and regional research projects and programmes in biology and biotechnology;
•Organise professional development of staff in cooperation with domestic and foreign partners;
•Conduct research activities based on permits from the authorised bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Main Objectives
•Study the most promising probiotic strains from natural microorganisms;
•Conduct research on developing new probiotics based on qualitatively new formulations;
•Obtain natural strains for use in the food industry and new probiotics for animal husbandry;
•Develop starter cultures for dairy product production;
•Select lactic acid bacteria for acid-forming and antibiotic activity;
•Create a collection of microorganisms based on selected core cultures;
•Create conditions for involving master’s and undergraduate students in research activities;
•Provide scientific and practical support for research work of students, master’s students, and school students;
•Cooperate with Kazakhstani and foreign biotechnology research centres;
•Organise scientific and practical conferences, seminars, and other events on the premises of the Centre;
•Conduct fundamental and applied research in biotechnology to address practical issues of microorganism selection aimed at ensuring the production of high-quality, competitive products.
