Biography

In 1975, she graduated from the Guryev Pedagogical Institute with a degree in Russian Language and Literature for Schools with Non-Russian Language Instruction. From 1975 to 1977, she worked as a teacher of Russian language and literature at the secondary school in the village of Sokolok, Balykshinsky District, Guryev Region. From 1977 to 1982, she undertook postgraduate training and internship studies at the Abai Kazakh Pedagogical Institute. In 1983, she successfully defended her Candidate of Sciences (PhD) dissertation at the Academic Council of Al-Farabi Kazakh State University and was subsequently appointed to the Guryev Pedagogical Institute. For 13 years, she served as Head of the Department of Theory and Practice of the Modern Russian Language. She currently works as a Professor at the Department of Russian Philology. Her research interests include linguoculturology, theoretical linguistics, and methodologies for teaching Russian in bilingual educational environments. Professor Umurzakova presented research papers at the 13th International MAPRYAL Congress (Granada, Spain, 2015) and the 14th MAPRYAL Congress (Astana, Kazakhstan, 2019), as well as at numerous international, national, and university conferences and round tables.
