Biography
Master of Pedagogical Sciences in History, Senior Lecturer. Works at the Department of Kazakhstan and World History of the Faculty of Humanities and Arts at H. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University.
Born on January 1, 1970, in Balkuduk village, Kurmangazy district, Atyrau region, in a family of teachers. Studied at Balkuduk Secondary School from 1977 to 1987. In 1987–1992, graduated from the Faculty of History of Al-Farabi Kazakh State University in Almaty, obtaining higher education in the specialty “Historian. Teacher of History and Social Studies.”
Began her professional career in 1992–1993 as a teacher at Secondary School No. 11 named after Y. Altynsarin in Atyrau. Since 1993, has been engaged in teaching at Atyrau Pedagogical University (now H. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University). In 2015, successfully defended her master’s thesis titled “Ethnodemographic and Cultural Development of the Population of Atyrau Region during the Years of Independence,” and obtained the academic degree of Master of Pedagogical Sciences in History.
Gulfairuz Shakirkyzy continuously improves her professional competence. During 2022–2025, she participated in a number of national and international advanced training courses and international winter schools in the fields of history, archaeology, ethnology, digital literacy, 21st-century skills, inclusive education, preservation of historical heritage, and archival studies. Her long-standing pedagogical and scientific-methodological work has been recognized with letters of appreciation from the Atyrau Regional Maslikhat, H. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as regional and republican educational organizations.
Her research covers issues of modern history of Kazakhstan, ethnodemographic processes, regional history, historical memory, environmental security, and the historical and cultural development of Turkic peoples. She has participated in international and national scientific-practical conferences and published articles in domestic and foreign scientific journals.
