“Innovative Trends in Teaching Kazakh Language Through Artificial Intelligence”
A roundtable on “Innovative Trends in Teaching Kazakh Language Through Artificial Intelligence” was held at Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University, organized by the Department of Kazakh Language and Literature of the Faculty of Multilingual Education.
The purpose of the event was to promote innovative methods for teaching the Kazakh language and to enhance students’ digital literacy. The guests of the event included A.B. Islyamova, Head of the Public Consent Department of the Atyrau Regional Internal Policy Department, and Chief Expert Sh.Zh. Temirbayeva. The roundtable was conducted in two parts. In the first part, theoretical presentations on the use of AI were delivered:
- “Rule of Law and Civic Responsibility in a Digital Society: Guarantee of a Safe Internet” - A.Zh. Bakytova, Acting Director of the Institute of Ethnic and Political Studies, Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University, Master of Laws.
- “AI for Teachers: Simplify First, Automate Next - A.M. Abilkhair, Master, Department of Translation, Faculty of Multilingual Education.
- “Effectiveness of Using AI in Kazakh Language Lessons” - R.R. Tulepbergenova, Senior Lecturer, Department of Kazakh Language and Literature, Faculty of Multilingual Education.
In the second part, third-year students of the 6В01701 -Kazakh Language and Literature program, who were preparing for their teaching practice, demonstrated practical AI applications through a methodological competition. The stages included:
- Introduction
- “Technology That Makes Language Speak” -Scientific project presentation
- “AI Master” Creative Section - Demonstration of digital tools such as ChatGPT, Kahoot, Canva, Google Translate, and Voice-to-Text; creation of tasks or tests in Kazakh language
- Preparation of Visual Materials on “Kazakh Language and AI” - Interactive posters or infographics
The jury, consisting of A.Zh. Bakytova, Acting Director of the Institute of Ethnic and Political Studies, G.Zh. Nursultanova, Head and Trainer-Methodologist of the Office for Retraining and Professional Development, and A.N. Kubasheva, Senior Lecturer, Department of Software Engineering, Faculty of Physics, Mathematics, and Information Technologies, analyzed and evaluated all four stages.
As a result, the following teams were awarded:
- “Language and Technology” – 1st degree diploma
- “AI and Language Harmony” – 2nd degree diploma
- “AI Leader” – 3rd degree diploma
- “Innovative Thinker” – 3rd degree diploma
The event demonstrated that the 6В01701 - Kazakh Language and Literature program at Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University not only develops professional competencies but also equips students with strong digital skills, preparing specialists capable of effectively using artificial intelligence in education.
