The “Path to Business” Project Supports Entrepreneurs!

On May 30, a visiting session of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan took place in Atyrau. The session was attended by the Chairman of the Agency, Askar Zhumagali, Members of Parliament, Akim of Atyrau Region Serik Shapkenov, members of the Public Council, deputies of the regional maslikhat, and heads of local departments, administrations, and law enforcement agencies. The meeting focused on the measures being implemented in the region to prevent corruption risks.

Following the session, a round table discussion was held at Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University with the participation of the Agency’s Public Council and representatives of the Atyrau region business community. The event aimed to establish an open dialogue with regional entrepreneurs, protect their rights, identify and prevent corruption risks encountered in business activities.

Deputy Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency Ulan Sarkulov opened the round table, emphasizing the importance of the event in the context of implementing the “Rule of Law and Order” principle announced by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Director of the Atyrau regional branch of the “Atameken” National Chamber of Entrepreneurs, Nurlan Suinbayev, addressed key challenges faced by local businesses and outlined the support being provided by the chamber. Deputy Akim of the region, Marat Murziyev, also spoke about measures in place to protect entrepreneurs’ rights.

Head of the Atyrau Regional Department of the Anti-Corruption Agency, Yerulan Serikkaliyev, reported on the implementation of the “Path to Business” project launched in 2023. He noted that over 300 appeals from entrepreneurs have been received under the project, more than 180 meetings held to address the issues raised, and that as a result of the department’s intervention, the rights of over 4,000 entrepreneurs have been protected. The project is aimed at eliminating obstacles hindering business development and ensuring the protection of entrepreneurs’ rights.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Deputy Chairman Ulan Sarkulov highlighted that Atyrau University, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary this year, is one of the key institutions in the region. He encouraged local entrepreneurs and university alumni working in business to support the development of the university’s infrastructure.

The event concluded with an open dialogue and Q&A session. Members of the Public Council also familiarized themselves with the university’s anti-corruption initiatives, activities of the Atyrau branch of the “ZHANARU” Nationwide Anti-Corruption Movement, and upcoming plans in this direction.
