A delegation from Nazarbayev University, led by President Waqar Ahmad, paid a working visit to Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University. The delegation included Vice President Gulmira Kanay, as well as researchers and other university representatives.
The visitors familiarised themselves with Atyrau University’s research and educational infrastructure and toured its laboratories. The delegation visited laboratories where university researchers are implementing projects focused on the processing and regeneration of hydrogen sulfide-containing gas and oil waste, robotics and mechatronics, environmental technologies, resource conservation, and the recycling and reuse of biomaterials.
The delegation also visited the university’s Scientific Library, a studio for developing online courses for the educational process, and the English Only Space language centre.
Nazarbayev University scholars and representatives held a dedicated meeting with the leadership and faculty of Atyrau University to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in education and research. The parties exchanged views on priority areas of partnership and discussed opportunities for student exchanges through academic mobility programmes, mutual exchange of expertise among researchers and specialists, and support for the implementation of joint research projects.
During the meeting, Chairman of the Board - Rector Salamat Idrissov thanked the delegation for its visit to Atyrau University and highlighted the importance of future cooperation for the region.
“Welcome to Atyrau University! Our main goal is to launch joint projects aimed at addressing the pressing issues facing our region. We believe that researchers and students from both universities will exchange experience and implement initiatives that will benefit our region,” said Chairman of the Board - Rector Salamat Idrissov.
Gulmira Kanay, Vice President of Nazarbayev University, noted that the visit provided an opportunity to learn more about the research achievements of Atyrau University scholars and emphasised the significant potential for researchers from both universities to implement joint projects in the future.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the university leaders expressed their readiness to systematically develop bilateral cooperation and agreed to hold a number of further meetings to work out and advance new joint initiatives.
