Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technology
In 1967, the Department of Chemistry was established independently, and the first head of the department was Shakirov Muslim. He is a graduate of the Kazakh State Pedagogical Institute named after Abai.

From 1970 to 1975, the head of the Department of Chemistry was candidate of chemical sciences K.Kh. Tokmurzin, later K.Kh. Tokmurzin - corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, doctor of chemical sciences, professor.
K.Kh. During the time of Tokmurzin as the head of the department, the following teachers worked together with the above-mentioned teachers: N.K. In 1975-1976, Zh. Zhangabylov worked as the acting head of the chemistry department.
In 1976-1978, the head of the department was Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor Zh. Kurmangaziyeva, and in 1978-1989, the head of the department was Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor X.A. Zaynullin.
In 1989-1993, the head of the chemistry department was M.I. Duysenov. During these years, the teaching staff of the department was replenished with young specialists. They were S.M. Graduates of the Kirov Kazakh State University R.B. Khamidullina, S.A. Doszhanova.
In 1993 - 1994, the head of the chemistry department was the candidate of chemical sciences, professor H.A. Kuanyshkaliev. During these years, the department was joined by the candidate of chemical sciences D.S. Ermekov.

From January 2020 to April 2021, the head of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technology was Kurmet Gizatullaevich Satenov, Candidate of Chemical Sciences.
From April 2021 to August 2022, the head of the department was Nazym Zhaksybayevna Galimova, Master of Natural Sciences, teacher.
From September 2022 to the present, the head of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technology is Zhanar Kadyrbayevna Kadasheva, PhD, Associate Professor. In the same year, the scientific school "Soil, Plants and Water Ecology" under the leadership of B. Mukhambetov, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor, was opened instead of the scientific school "Chemical Toxicology" under the leadership of G.B. Tulemisova, Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor, and consists of young teachers, students and undergraduates. The scientific school "Chemical Toxicology" was conducting its work, 4th and 3rd year students came during their extracurricular hours and mastered the methods of analyzing the Ural water and soils of the Atyrau region, as well as the waste of the Amur Refinery.
Work was carried out to launch new high-performance liquid chromatographs and gas chromatographs purchased for the university in 2021. The methods of working at the facilities were mastered by 3rd and 4th year students and young teachers.

In terms of research: for example, Tulemisova Gulzhamal Bagitovna is a Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Professor, Expert of the Expert Commission of the Department of Ecology of the Atyrau region, Member of the Expert Commission of the University. Author of 50 scientific papers and 3 textbooks. For her contribution to the development of science in the Republic of Kazakhstan, she was awarded the V.I. Vernads Medal in RAE-2016, and has the title of "Honored Worker of Science and Technology in RAE-2017".
Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor G.K. Shambilova actively participated in research grant projects of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian Foundation for Fundamental Research, and others. She was awarded a diploma from the National Testing Center of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the badge of the Ministry of Education and Science, "Veteran of Labor in the Oil, Gas, and Chemical Industries", and the badge "For Merit in the Development of Science".
Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor R.N. Nasirov is a member of the dissertation council D 53.19.01 at the D.V. Sokolsky Institute of Organic Catalysis and Electrochemistry. By order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 30, 2015 No. 789, he became the winner of the state grant of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Best Teacher of Higher Education".
Nasirov won the second international grant from the People's Republic of China under the program of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2007-2009.
By order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 575 dated December 23, 2010, he is the winner of the state scientific scholarship for scientists and specialists who have made a significant contribution to the development of science and technology in the specialty "Chemistry and Materials Science".

In the pedagogical direction, the associate professor of our department, the holder of the Y. Altynsarin breastplate, A.D. Kalimukasheva, worked with the first-time defender of Kazakhstan on the methodology of teaching chemistry, I. Nugmanov, on the topic of forming research qualifications in future chemistry teachers, and wrote a textbook for students. Aybuldinov E.K. successfully engages in scientific activities in the field of chemical technology, hydrocarbon processing, organic synthesis, industrial waste processing, ecology, has published more than 50 scientific papers in international rating publications included in the Thomson Reuters, Scopus databases, abstracts and reports at international congresses, symposiums, conferences (Germany, Italy, France, Holland, Belgium, Turkey, Russia, etc.), is the author of 2 patents for inventions of the Republic of Kazakhstan and 5 copyright certificates.
The varieties developed by B. G.K. Shambilova, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor, since 1985 has been engaged in scientific research in the fields of rheology of polymer solutions and mixtures; experimental rheology; physical chemistry of polymers.
Executor of scientific grants under fundamental and applied research programs: Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2009–2011), Russian Foundation for Fundamental Research (RFFR) (Rheology Laboratory of the Institute of Petrochemical Synthesis of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, 2003–2005), work under an economic contract with the Atyrau Oil Refinery (2001), Department of Entrepreneurship and Industrial and Innovative Development of the Atyrau Region Akimat (2016).
In 2018–2020, she led the scientific project “Fundamental Regularities of Rheological Properties of Nanocomposite Polymer Materials” under the project of the MF of the MES of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Scientific and academic promotion of alternative solutions" is the project of the Program-Targeted Financing (PTF) of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. AP26100713 is the head of the scientific project on the topic of Fundamentals of creating sustainable asphalt concrete pavements using recycled polymers and lignin to solve environmental and infrastructure problems (2025-2027).
Author of 4 monographs, 5 textbooks, more than 200 scientific publications, including 24 articles in journals included in the Web of Science and Scopus databases and 7 patents. In 2019, he was awarded the state grant "Best Teacher of a Higher Education Institution".
He has completed advanced training courses and scientific internships in universities in Russia, Canada, Poland, China and Kazakhstan. Since 2005, he has been a member of the G.V. Vinogradov Rheology Society.
In April 2023, Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor Kalauova A.S. was awarded a Letter of Gratitude from the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as the “Outstanding Employee of the Chemical Industry” badge from the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan on May 22, 2024.
Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor Kalimanova D.Zh. was awarded the Certificate of Gratitude from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan “For a significant contribution to the development of education and science in the Republic of Kazakhstan” (April 11, 2025).
