Department history
The Department of Civil Law Disciplines has a long history and plays an important role in the training of legal specialists. The Department of Civil Law was founded on March 3, 2001. Over the years, the department was headed by B.T. Zhumagulov, F.I. Ryskalieva, L.B. Berdygozhin, B.Zh. Iseyev, A. Kulbarakov, Zh.K. Mambetova, and A.O. Turdaliev. Each of these heads made an invaluable contribution to the department's development during their tenure.
Since 2020, the department has been headed by Associate Professor Uzduk Khamykizy Idresova.

According to the Atameken National Enterprise's ranking of educational programs, the 6B04201-Jurisprudence program ranked 25th out of 62 in 2021, 11th out of 61 in 2022, 8th out of 56 in 2023, 12th out of 57 in 2024, and 16th out of 53 in 2025.

The Education Department is working to implement active and interactive methods and technologies. Textbooks, teaching aids, and monographs are published.
The department's faculty continually improves their qualifications. They regularly attend advanced training courses in their fields and study modern educational technologies both domestically and at leading international centers.
All faculty members actively participate in research, including interdisciplinary research: history of state and law, finance and financial, tax, and banking law, environment and ecology, subsoil resources and real estate legal regimes, occupational safety, labor law, and others. Their research results are regularly published in highly ranked journals and publications indexed in the international databases Scopus and Web of Science, and they also participate in international scientific and research-to-practice conferences.
In 2023, based on the results of the annual Republican Subject Olympiad for students of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of "Law", 4th-year student Moldir Medetova was awarded a 3rd-degree diploma of the Ministry, and in 2024, based on the results of the annual competition of scientific research works of students of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of "Law", 2nd-year student Sabidullina Aizada Zaydollaevna was awarded a 1st-degree diploma of the Ministry.
Since 2012, the Legal Clinic has been operating, working with the court, prosecutors, corporate lawyers, attorneys, notaries, and private bailiffs to provide free legal consultations to residents and organize professional internships for students.
A joint student club, "Kaisar Tergeushіler," is affiliated with the Investigative Department of the Police Department, as well as the "Zimanov Izbasarlary" student research center, the "Mediatsia" center, and the "Kukyk Korgaushylar" club.
A micro-skills course, "Investigation of Economic Crimes," was introduced in 2024 based on a memorandum between the Financial Monitoring Agency and Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University.
