Chairman of the Board and Rector S. Idrisov made a report
Chairman of the Board, Rector of the University Salamat Idrisov made a public report on the work done since the 2023-2024 academic year and the future tasks of the Atyrau University named after Kh. Dosmukhamedov
The meeting was attended by Deputy Akim of Atyrau region Daryn Shamuratov, Chairman of the Public Council of Atyrau region, Honorary Citizen of Atyrau region Murat Uteshov, Deputy Akim of Atyrau city Nurzhan Yermukhanov, heads of higher and secondary specialized educational institutions of the region, university’s professorial teaching staff, media representatives, heads of employer institutions supporting partnership with Atyrau university, students.
In his report, the Chairman of the Board and Rector of the University S. Idrisov spoke about the mission, vision, goals and objectives of the University and noted the achievements made during the academic year. The university's development directions are based on the training of high-quality specialists who meet the demands of the labor market of the Atyrau region, turning Atyrau University into a driver of innovation processes, science and education in the region.
- To implement these directions, the "University development strategy for 2020-2025" was revised, guided by the concept of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the development of higher education and science in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2023-2029. The main principles that guided our activities were academic freedom, unity of teaching and research, openness, transparency, quality, respect for the individual, consciousness, innovation," said the rector.
One of the areas that is currently receiving attention is the social status of employees. At the same time, the growth of salaries at the university is carried out in stages since 2020. From September 1, 2023, by the decision of the Administration, the salaries of teaching staff were increased by 20%, bonuses are paid depending on their academic titles and positions held. In this series, such opportunities have also been created for students. In total, the University allocated 43,995,810 tenge for youth policy and social support measures in the 2023 academic year.
- Our university is aimed at comprehensive support of young people and creation of maximum conditions for their development. We have student clubs of various directions, which unite young people by interests and goals. The university has sports sections, creativity sections, volunteer movements, student dean's organizations. We provide comprehensive support to our active students. 42 students became winners of educational grant competitions, 12 million tenge were allocated for the implementation of social projects, 6 million tenge were allocated to support student initiatives, - said S. Idrisov.
In addition, one of the main positions of the university is the establishment of scientific and cooperative relations with foreign educational institutions, exchange of experience with foreign scientists. In this regard, it is worth noting the successfully implemented academic mobility program. Within the framework of this program, 19 teachers visited Turkey, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, and 15 foreign scientists came to Atyrau University to give lectures and share their experience.
- Under this system, students also exchange experience. 8 students went to universities in Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, 2 students went to France to improve their education under the ERASMUS+ program, another 9 students were given the opportunity to exchange experience in other countries with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In addition, 5 Kyrgyz students were given the opportunity to exchange experience at Atyrau University, the chairman of the board said.
Having analyzed the work done to date, S. Idrisov focused on future goals and objectives and shared plans regarding the university infrastructure. Currently, 1 dormitory and 1 academic building belonging to the university are considered to be in emergency condition. Therefore, in order to optimally solve the problem, they rent other buildings in the city. However, this is a temporary solution. Therefore, the university management plans to build new infrastructure facilities.
- Currently, the university has the main academic building, 4 academic buildings, a sports complex and the Zhaiyk physical education complex, 3 dormitories. Our future plans include an academic building for 1,000 people with a laboratory for students, a modern library, an agrobiological station in the village of Sarayshyk, and the Kuzyret Center buildings with research laboratories, - he shared his future plan.
After the main part of the reporting meeting, Deputy Akim of Atyrau Region Daryn Shamuratov expressed gratitude for the work done and said that the Akim would provide maximum support to the plans put forward.
At the end of the meeting, university veterans and members of the Academic Council expressed their opinions, gave a positive assessment to Salamat Idrisov's report and wished him success in his future work.
