The current issues of criminal cases in the era of digitalization were discussed
A meeting was held at the Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University with specialists from the Atyrau Regional Police Department.
The event, organized by the university’s Law Clinic, aimed to inform students about modern types of crime and measures to protect against internet fraud in connection with the rise of cybercrimes, as well as to introduce them to the ways of joining the internal affairs authorities.
At the meeting, reports were presented by the head of the Department of Educational Work and Personnel of the Atyrau Regional Police Department, Police Lieutenant Colonel Nurzhan Shaedenov; the head of the Cybercrime Investigation Division of the Investigation Department, Police Lieutenant Colonel Muratbay Kadirov; the Deputy Head of the Operational-Criminalistics Department, Police Colonel Bolatbek Mendygaliyev; and the criminologist, Police Major Zhardem Tagayev. They introduced students from the Law, Biology, and IT programs to the work carried out by the police department and delivered their presentations.
"I am glad to meet you today as a graduate of Atyrau University 21 years ago and as a current civil servant. A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Atyrau Region Police Department and the Faculty of Economics and Law of Atyrau University. We invite students of the Faculty of Law, as well as the Faculties of Biology and IT to work in the police department," said Police Lieutenant Colonel Nurzhan Shaedenov, sharing the benefits of working in the police.
In addition, at the meeting, the Head of the Cybercrime Investigation Department of the Investigation Department Muratbay Kadirov made a report on the types of cybercrimes and ways to protect against online fraud. "Last year, 19 thousand cybercrimes were registered. During the investigation of these cases, 8 types of crimes committed via the Internet were identified: free advertising sites, bank accounts, Anydesk, investments, phishing, artificial intelligence," said the police lieutenant colonel.
During the meeting, an open discussion was held on the prevention of Internet crimes, employment opportunities for biology and IT specialists as criminologists, and the advantages of the new profession "cyber-criminologist".
At the end of the meeting, the university teachers suggested organizing an open day at the police department and took a commemorative photo.
