World election day-a professional holiday of field’s specialists
At the Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University, a meeting was held in honor of World Election Day, with the participation of Salamat Idrissov, the Deputy of the Atyrau Regional Maslikhat, Chairman of the Board and Rector, and Asiya Kystaubayeva, the Chairman of the Atyrau Regional Territorial Election Commission.
World Election Day is celebrated annually on the first Thursday of February. The purpose of the event is to define the rights of young voters, promote the limited electoral rights set forth in Article 4 of the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan”, and explain to the citizens of Kazakhstan their rights both as voters and as candidates for elected positions.
“As a graduate of Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University, I sincerely congratulate you on your 85th anniversary. The university has made a significant contribution to the training of public servants in the region. World Election Day was established 20 years ago at the meeting held in Budapest on September 16-17. This day is considered a professional holiday for citizens with voting rights as well as for the specialists working in election commissions,” said Asiya Kystaubayeva, Chairman of the Atyrau Regional Territorial Election Commission.
Additionally, during the meeting, Salamat Idrissov, a Deputy of the Atyrau Regional Maslikhat, delivered a report on the duties and importance of parliamentary work. “Since the results of the March 19, 2023 election, I have been serving as a deputy of the Atyrau Regional Maslikhat for two years. I consider this deputy mandate as a public service because my candidacy for the election from the Inder District was aimed at improving my homeland. Gradually, the goals I set are being achieved. Evidence of this is that several issues in the Inder District have found positive solutions,” said the deputy.
During the event organized by the Department of Civil Law at the university, open discussions were held on the right to stand for election, the duties of deputies, and the participation of citizens with disabilities in the election process.
