Biography
Asel Serikovna Bekesheva is the Head of the Department of Fine Arts and Design at H. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University, a Master of Arts, and a Senior Lecturer. She is also a member of the Eurasian Designers Union and the Union of Ethno-Designers of Kazakhstan.
From 2001 to 2005, she studied at H. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau State University, majoring in Fine Arts and Technical Drawing. Later, from 2016 to 2018, she completed her Master’s degree in Design at the Regional Social and Innovation University and earned a Master of Arts degree.
She began her professional career in 2005 at Y. Ageleuov Makhambet Secondary School in the Makhambet District. Since 2008, she has been working at H. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University, Faculty of Humanities and Arts. Over the years, she has established herself as a lecturer, organizer, and specialist in art education, and she currently heads the Department of Fine Arts and Design.
Her academic and pedagogical work focuses on art education, design, ethno-design, teaching methodology in fine arts, and the development of students’ creative and spiritual worldview. She supervises student research projects and provides scientific and methodological guidance to school teachers.
She pays particular attention to professional development. She has completed advanced training in modern pedagogical technologies, distance learning, academic drawing and painting, Adobe Photoshop and SketchUp, graphic design, inclusive education, university management and quality assurance, and modern models of teacher education. She also completed a research internship at Uludag University in Türkiye under the Orhun Program and took part in international training initiatives in Serbia and Finland. Within the “Saraishyk – Heritage of the Ancestors” project, she participated in мастер-классы in sculpture and painting.
Her academic works have been published in both national and international editions. Her research addresses the formation of students’ spiritual worldview through ethno-design, current issues in teaching the subject “Art and Craft,” information competence, computer modeling technologies, pedagogical methods, and the aesthetic impact of handicrafts. Her articles have appeared in international conference proceedings and in foreign journals such as AD ALTA and Revista Dilemas Contemporáneos.
She actively participates in international seminars, exhibitions, symposia, and research internships. International projects in design, textile arts, graphics, and art education occupy an important place in her professional profile.
For her professional achievements and creative contribution, she has received numerous awards, including the Grand Prix of the national competition “Ustaz Oneri,” the Grand Prix of the “Abyroi” competition, the Akhmet Baitursynov badge, a Letter of Appreciation from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a Letter of Appreciation from the Akim of Atyrau Region, and several university awards for creative exhibitions and projects.
