At the Guryev Teachers’ Institute, the departments of Philology and Physics and Mathematics functioned.
In 1955, the Physics and Mathematics Department was reorganized into a faculty.
In the 1955–1956 academic year, 125 students were admitted to the first year.
Of these, 50 were enrolled in the Russian department and 75 in the Kazakh department.
